Anxiously Curious

‘You can serve the pies and duck downstairs, Miss Reynolds, broth and bread are enough for us.’

‘Cheese and fruits too? Honey?’

‘That would be nice, thank you. Maybe potatoes, no butter.’

‘Very well, Mrs. Darcy.’ The housekeeper nodded. ‘I will lay it here as requested. Anything else for tea?’

‘No, you may go.’

The housekeeper left with a curtsy and Elizabeth looked around the richly decorated morning room beside the masters’ sitting room. Another almond biscuit popped in her mouth and she sighed again. Married for thirty hours and only had a conscious husband for about four.

Deciding to construct her marriage the way she hoped to have one, she walked towards his chambers and opened the door without knocking hoping to possibly find him in the tub, but his abhorrent valet was busy arranging his clothes.

‘Mrs. Darcy.’ He bowed and left without another word.

She continued quietly to his darkened bedroom and found him lying across the bed in his socks, breeches, and shirtsleeves.

‘Mrs. Darcy?’ He said in a low voice when she got close to the bed.

‘You don’t sound miserable anymore!’ She whispered not wanting to disturb his peace. ‘Feeling good enough for tea with me? It might bring you comfort.’

He raised a hand and she held it. He brought it for a kiss and grinned before pulling. She fell on his mattress giggling and he turned on his side to kiss her face. ‘Thank you, my wife. But no tea for me.’

A sigh cut her mirth. ‘Still queasy? What did you eat to make you feel so bad? I didn’t see you drink that much yesterday.’

He frowned looking up at the bed canopy. ‘A small loaf with a slice of sausage. Tea.’

‘What else?’

He shook his head, eyes on her curls, fingers playing with a hairpin. ‘Didn’t want to waste time eating when I knew you would be preparing for me.’

She smiled. ‘Should have.’

‘My fault.’ He took away the pin but as her head was pressed against the mattress, the long tresses didn’t fall. Not satisfied, his fingers weaved inside her hair until he found another and pulled it out as well.

‘Pray, husband, want to see me disheveled?’

‘Yes.’

Excitement ran through her. ‘As you are?’

‘More.’ His fingers traced her cheek, chin, and neck where he posed a light kiss, and reached her cleavage.

‘It’s daytime!’ She protested but he didn’t pay attention. He had married a bewitching woman thirty hours before and still hadn’t quenched his desire.

While he felt her soft skin scorch his fingers, she felt them burn a path as he touched around her dress’ décolletage up to her shoulder where she tugged on the sleeves. A kiss, all fingers working the dress further down, another kiss, fingers glided over her breast to hold with enough force to make her arch her back. As his lips kissed from shoulder to cleavage, his fingers pushed the garments and soon lips found the erect nipple.

She moaned and he sucked gingerly for his breath caught in his throat. She was too lovely. He had seen her
